Nutritional Benefits of Aloe Vera

Prescribed drugs can be effective, but long term use can involve side effects so many people are turning back to more traditional, natural  alternatives like aloe vera. Many health benefits are attributed to drinking Aloe Vera. Although not all of the benefits have been scientifically proven, it is used widely around the world.

It isn’t the Aloe Vera that actually cures so many health problems but drinking Aloe Vera enables the body to start healing itself by helping to put it back in balance so it can work on the condition itself, and often symptoms disappear while using it.

Nutritional Benefits people report from drinking Aloe Vera:

· Boosts the immune system - a healthy immune system working effectively is needed to fight off infection from viruses and bacteria.

· Younger looking skin – wrinkles appear when the skin loses its spring. Aloe Vera increases the activity of fibroblasts which produce collagen, which gives skin its structure and firmness; and elastin, which gives the skin its elasticity so it returns back to its normal shape after being pulled, like when smiling or frowning.

· Improves hair condition - hair looks healthy, shinier and thicker. It is well known that hair condition can reflect general health

· Healthy nails - nails grow faster and stronger as a side effect!

· Anti inflammatory – Aloe Vera contains plant sterols which reduce inflammation naturally, and so benefit inflammatory conditions like arthritis

· Eases joint pain – often caused by damaged tissue. Aloe Vera helps cells to repair themselves, speeding healing and recovery. Reduced inflammation means reduced pain.

· Helps digestion, constipation,  diarrhoea and other problems with the intestines. Over time the bowel can become lined with unabsorbed food, preventing essential nutrients from being absorbed and causing constipation, diarrhoea or abdominal pain. Aloe Vera encourages regular bowel movement and cleanses and detoxifies the digestive system

Where to buy Aloe Vera

The benefits felt will depend on the

amount of Aloe Vera present in the

 product. The nutritional benefit of

drinking Aloe Vera gel will be less

if it has been heat treated, filtered

 or watered down (cheaper products).

Most benefit is found where Aloe Vera

is the main ingredient, preferably the

first in the list. If it appears way down

a long list of ingredients, there may

only be a small amount present and

benefit will be minimal. Drink 100%

stabilized Aloe Vera gel for maximum

 benefits.

"The first benefit I found from drinking Aloe Vera gel was in my joints. I used to suffer from a nagging backache and painful knees. Since drinking aloe vera every morning  I can run again without any pain, and I also play a lot of tennis. "
